Compact SUV Comparison: The Mazda CX-5 & The Honda CR-V

Monday, October 24th, 2016

Mazda 4 Koeru could be next CX-5

Compact SUVs are in very strong demand right now. They are probably the most popular go-to vehicles and we thought you’d like to see what two of these looked like side by side. Which do you think will come out to be the strongest competitor? Read on to find out.

Let’s talk safety. Although the CR-V scored well in testing, the CX-5 scored very well across the board. Not only did it received the highest possible ratings in the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), but did extremely well in the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Mazda is famous for their performance. Their models are responsive, agile and light behind the wheel. If you’re looking for the ultimate spice, opt for a 2.5-liter engine with 184 horsepower. That will keep things interesting!

If you need towing capabilities in your compact SUV then put your money on the CX-5. It can tow 500 pounds more than the CR-V and has more torque, as well.

In fuel efficiency, the CX-5 beats out the CR-V with a 2.0-liter manual transmission engine at 26 mpg in the city and 35 mpg on the highway.

As far as price goes, Mazda has always prided itself in bringing affordable quality vehicles to the public. Honda has always remained more expensive than Mazda. The #MazdaCX-5 starts at $21,795 and the CR-V at $23,845. Even at their most expensive, these models remain the same in relation to each other. The most expensive CX-5 is $29,870 and the priciest CR-V is $33,495.

Come get a closer look at the Mazda CX-5. It’s a gorgeous, reliable, quality car that would satisfy the needs of nearly any SUV aficionado today. For a good look at our new and certified pre-owned cars, visit us at CardinaleWay Mazda in Corona or online at www.CardinaleWayMazdaCorona.com.

Exploring The CX-5 Infotainment System

Wednesday, October 12th, 2016

Mazda CX-5 interior

The #MazdaCX-5 has a lot to offer in terms of drivability, safety and practicality, but the infotainment system is an area we would like you to explore, as well. Like the model, it is versatile and has a whole lot to offer.

First, we want to mention that Mazda Connect is a collective name for the infotainment system, cockpit control wheel combination and the phone connection. The control wheel is different than others in the market in that it has less buttons to have to mess with. It is much sleeker and simple to work with. The available buttons are Navigation, Back, Music, Main Menu and Favorites. The control wheel manages the touch-enabled 8-inch center stack.

The navigation is conveniently voice-controlled and the audio system is great! It has the standard AM/FM deck with HD and satellite added to it. If you’d rather listen to what’s playing on your phone, the CX-5 has Bluetooth and USB capabilities. If you need to access Aha, Pandora or Stitcher, you can use the car’s controls to access and use them. The steering wheel and dash are designed to be very accessible to whatever audio needs you may have. You can hop through channels easily through the wheel and the dash has plenty of favorite buttons for you to use.

We would love to show you how convenient the infotainment system is set up and how comfortable all the buttons are relative to the driver’s seating position. If you’d like to come take the CX-5 on a test drive, or would like any questions answered, our wonderful sales team at CardinaleWay Mazda in Corona would be more than happy to make that happen for you. For a look at our current inventory, head on over to www.cardinalewaymazdacorona.com.

Long Ride? Take A Seat In The New CX-3, Part II

Thursday, October 6th, 2016

Mazda 3 CX-3 delivers

The CX-3 is a heavy hitter in the crossover class. It delivers in more ways than one. If you’re interested in crossovers and SUVs, you’ll want to keep reading.

The 2017 model will carry the SkyActiv powertrain, a powerful engine that’s efficient on fuel and smooth on the road. It has a cool little feature that shuts off the engine when sitting idle too long (in order to save you some gas). The steering response is out of this world. The feeling when driving this finely-tuned beauty is literally luxurious. Mazda loves to walk the luxurious line without having to break your bank to get it. It keeps things affordable!

The body is stylish, sleek and just beautiful–for any crossover. Mazda never disappoints, with a vehicle that marries good looks and good performance. The grill is reshaped to look even better, the headlights glimmer with LED lighting and the 18 inch alloy wheels complement it perfectly.

The touchscreen panel is a good 7 inches in size, the sound system is made by Bose (we love Bose!), the trunk space is roomy and can get even more so–the rear seat can fold down to create a bigger area when necessary.

Body paint colors! The front-wheel drives (in the Pro option) come in Dynamic Blue and Crystal White Pearl. The sport FWD comes in Soul Red, Jet Black, Crystal White Pearl and Titanium Flash. The AWD will have a ceramic finish.

We are very excited about showing this model off. It’s a people pleaser! If you’re interesting in giving the CX-3 a test drive, please visit us at CardinaleWay Mazda in Corona, and check out our inventory online. We’re more than happy to show why the CX-3 is the best crossover in the market today!

Long Ride? Take A Seat In The New CX-3, Part I

Mazda CX-3

If you plan to spend a lot of time driving, consider Mazda’s CX-3. This car is unlike any other crossover on the market. We know how important comfort is to those who take long weekend trips out of town. Maybe you spend a good chunk of your week in traffic, commuting to and from work on the daily. We’ve had to spend countless hours on the road as well and we know how rigid, poorly designed seating can take a nasty toll on the body. We’ve felt that kind of pain enough times that we never want to feel it again!

The great news is that the CX-3 feels like a good pair of jeans. The seats fit just right and the your legs won’t feel cramped or your head too darn close to the roof. The interior look is just gorgeous. Leather and suede line it, with red stitching weaved throughout. The dash is trimmed with a black, leather-like material and a smooth metal decorates the steering wheel, gearshift and doors. These details work really well together to create a pleasant space in this small crossover.

Seeing that you’ll be spending this much time on the road, you’ve probably already given some thought to your safety on the road. Can’t blame you, with the car accidents that seem to happen almost daily in the city. In case you don’t already know, you’ll be pleased to learn that Mazda makes safety a priority! The CX-3 is packed with a list of safety features including Lane Keeping Assist, which is a camera-operated system that prevents lane-changing collisions. An alarm will sound if your vehicle runs over a white line without signaling. Apart from this you get stability control, ABS and all-encompassing air bags (front, side and curtains).

The CX-3 is at CardinaleWay Mazda in Corona today! Come check out why it rocks the crossover class, and check out our inventory online. You won’t be disappointed!

The 2016 Mazda CX-9 Turbo Signature

Monday, October 3rd, 2016

Mazda cx9 1

Are you looking for a roomy crossover? A spacious SUV? Mazda’s CX-9 is a great option for those looking for style and room. Keep reading to learn about what makes this model stand out from the rest in its class.

The CX-9 is pretty darn big. The body stands large and strong but the interior is comfortable and spacious, as well. It’s even comfortable for tall-types with long legs. You won’t feel cramped in here. Don’t worry about blind spots while driving this model because it’s equipped with a blind-spot warning system.

The CX-9’s body looks gorgeous in Mazda’s exclusive Machine Gray paint color. The interior touches and materials are looking finer and of higher quality than ever before. The dashboard looks more stylish and attractive with new color added to the gauges.

There’s a new turbocharged SkyActiv engine in the CX-9 that will make you want to rev it every time you step in it. It’s a 2.5 liter four cylinder, to be specific!

For those looking to provide seating for a number of occupants, this model features three rows of roomy seats. Crossovers with three rows of seats are in high demand right now, so if you’re looking for a spacious crossover, look no further. Mazda takes this popular vehicle choice and gives you more than other car manufacturers do. it pays special attention to provide a pleasurable (and natural) driving experience. Many carmakers just focus on giving you a working “shell” of what you’re supposedly looking for, without setting any actual standards to what should make a car drivable—reliable and enjoyable!

For a closer look at the CX-9 Turbo Signature model, please pay us a visit at CardinaleWay Mazda in Corona. Take it on a test drive. For a look at any other Mazda models, check out our new and certified pre-owned inventory.

The SkyActiv Feature: A New Technology For Mazda’s CX-5, Part II

Thursday, September 15th, 2016

Mazda CX-5 interior

There is no compact crossover that pulls ahead of Mazda’s CX-5. It’s engine never disappoints in fuel efficiency and power. The SkyActiv powertrain is a key player in what makes the CX-5 such a hot buy.

How do we know that this new technology won’t disappoint? The SkyActiv-D engine was made to be used with Euro VI fuels. The Philippines was still operating with Euro IV fuels but Mazda was able modify the engine to work with those fuels.

Have you been looking for a car that performs well yet is easy on gas? Some characteristics of the engine are twin turbochargers, variable valve timing and 173 horsepower with 420 Newton meters of torque. Thankfully, these will deliver speed on the highway and good fuel efficiency.

The CX-5 has one of the smoothest steering wheels you’ve ever had. It gets a lot of praise and this is why: it has great response. The wheel responds smoothly to your moves and the whatever the road brings. If you were to drive one today, you’ll probably notice that the brakes are just as responsive. It really makes for more comfortable and confident drive.

Mazda has always been devoted to safety, so you can rest assured that there will be a collection of safety features in any Mazda model you may purchase. The CX-5 will have six airbags, traction/stability control, adaptive headlights, lane keep assist/lane departure warning, ABS-EBD brakes and tire pressure monitoring system.

This compact crossover is a great car for those who are looking for looks, reliability, performance, fuel economy and safety. It’s such a versatile car. We can picture a family in it, an outdoorsy person, a young student and so much more.

Come see why Mazda is a great option for you. Please visit us at CardinaleWay Mazda in Corona. We’d love to show you around!

The SkyActiv Feature: A New Technology For Mazda’s CX-5, Part I

Wednesday, September 14th, 2016

Mazda Cx-5 1

Up until now, Subaru’s Forester has been pitted against the CX-5 in fierce competition. Yes, the Forester has had plenty to offer in its class but the CX-5 has never fallen behind. It hit the market with stylish body lines, an impressive powertrain and a collection of great features. It’s also always shown good drivability in urban and off-road settings. However, once the SkyActiv-D powertrain was introduced, the CX-5 became the clear choice crossover in all of its class.

Let’s talk about what makes the SkyActiv-D powertrain so valuable. The transmission is able to move more effectively with its new parts. They have been redesigned to be lighter and therefore, a lot faster. There are also automatics that immobilize torque converters faster, so that the engine is more powerful while still performing at a pace that’s best for fuel economy. The new powertrain is powerful, while still lighter and has good NVH isolation.

Something else worth mentioning is that the labcoats over at Mazda have instituted a way to get a compression ratio down to 14:1. Because of this, it is able to avoid the weight of a diesel engine and instead be much lighter. This makes for a faster and more effective engine. So, if saving on gas is important to you, take note. A lighter engine means less fuel is used to pull that extra weight. You save gas! Apart from saving on fuel, you also get a more powerful engine that’s also quieter. If you’ve heard a diesel engine running, you know what we mean. None of that here!

Please come visit us at CardinaleWay Mazda in Corona. We would love to discuss with you the many benefits of SkyActiv technology on your new Mazda.

We Now Have a Brand New CX-9 – Part III

Friday, July 8th, 2016

CX9

Mazda has redesigned it’s CX-9 three-row crossover SUV, and the 2017 model has finally hit dealerships across the country. Among the big changes include a new engine, improved high-quality interiors featuring premium materials, and a considerable shedding of weight. The exterior stylings of 2017 Mazda CX-9 aren’t much different from the older model. It still retains its stylish and eye-catching look.

First off, the new 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine produces 227 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. On premium 93-octane fuel, it is capable of producing 250 horsepower. Mazda has termed their unique turbocharger as ‘Dynamic Pressure Turbo’ which, according to them, is able to adjust the degree of exhaust pulsation according to the engine speed. Engine exhaust is routed to the turbocharger turbine at low rpm through smaller ports. Basically, butterfly valves cover part of the exhaust stream is covered by butterfly valves which increases the velocity of exhaust gases that hit the turbocharger. This technology makes it possible for Mazda’s engines to maximize torque at lower rpm. The new inline-4 engine enables the new CX-9 to increase its fuel economy by 20 percent.

On to the weight loss of the CX-9. Equipped with all-wheel drive, the CX-9 is 287 pounds lighter than the older model and 198 pounds lighter when equipped with FWD. This massive shedding of weight has allowed Mazda to improve its NVH (noise, vibration, harshness) by adding 53 pounds of sound insulation and acoustic glass. So the ride is a lot quieter now than before.
