Japanese auto giant, Mazda, has announced the recent launch of its brand new Aqua-Tech Paint System. The system has been installed at the Changan Mazda Automobile Co., Ltd. (CMA), which is the carmaker’s production center located at Jiangsu, China.
The new technology, which was implemented initially at the No. 1 Ujina Plant in Japan, offers a wide range of advantages. To begin with, it reduces the emissions of VOCs or Volatile Organic Compounds. VOC emissions have been a long time problem for automakers, forcing many of them to switch to water-based paints. However, with the new system in place, Mazda may not have to make that move.
Apart from cutting down on VOC emissions, the Aqua-Tech System also improves efficiency in terms of energy and paint usage.
Even after the initial installation, Mazda continued to improve the system in order to enhance its existing performance capabilities. The system is part of Mazda’s strategy to achieve a higher level of efficiency and quality in its vehicle production methods.
Mazda and CMA worked together to implement the new system in adherence to Japanese standards and to ensure that installation efforts and paint development were kept to a minimum. The transition to the new system was achieved in a short period of time, without interrupting the usage of oil-based paints or current production levels.
Aqua-Tech will be used for painting all the body colors on offer currently. It is believed that the system also provides a higher quality paint finish, similar to what is already being achieved at the Japanese plant.
