The 2021 Mazda6 comes in five trim levels at dealers like the Mazda dealership near Ontario: Sport, Touring, Grand Touring, Grand Touring Reserve and Signature. Powering the base Sport and Touring trims is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine generating 187 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. The other trims are powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that puts out 250 hp and 320 lb-ft of torque, a 10 lb-ft boost from last year’s model. This engine is also mated to the six-speed automatic.
Fuel economy is exceptional. With the standard engine, the Mazda6 gets an EPA-estimated 26 mpg city/35 mpg highway.* The turbocharged four-cylinder engine returns 23 mpg city/31 mpg highway.
The automotive media is solidly behind the 2021 Mazda6. Autotrader wrote: “The 2021 Mazda6 makes other midsize sedans seem dull. Competitors like the Toyota Camry and the Honda Accord have bold exterior designs with plenty of exaggerated creases and angles. The 2021 Mazda6 goes with elegant flowing lines, a large (but not too large) chrome-surrounded trapezoidal grille, and lush paint colors. It’s a kind of classy simplicity that’s trickier to pull off than it appears.”
The 2021 Mazda6 is very safe. The NHTSA gave the 2021 Mazda6 the highest rating of five stars for overall safety. While we don’t have official IIHS crash-test ratings for the 2021 Mazda6 as of this writing, the IIHS named the 2020 Mazda6 a Top Safety Pick+ model, with the top score of Good in all crash tests. We expect identical scores for the 2021 model.

The infotainment system includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the Grand Touring trim and higher get Wireless CarPlay software standard.
Inside, the Mazda6 looks like a more expensive car. The cabin is replete with high-quality materials, and handsome styling is evident throughout. These are some of the reasons Car and Driver called the Mazda6’s cabin best in class.
