Early in the race, the 2-car Platinum Masters, Ray Shahi, and Larry Schnur split from each other. Ray Shahi managed to keep his Porsche (No. 65) ahead of Schnur’s car. Shahi said that they got a good start even with all the commotions up front. He kept his nose clean throughout the race and won. He knew that it was important to take care of the car under those conditions. He did and brought it home. Shahi congratulated the TruSpeed team for doing an awesome job.
The Silver class for the 2016 Porsche Cayman GT4 ClubSport car race has been a rough affair. It saw a number of challenges, including Sean McAlister, the championship contender, dropping out early due to incidents. No. 94 BR Racing Porsche developed braking concerns early on the race, however, was able to manage the 3rd victory of the season.
The Silver Masters class victory was claimed by Mike Sullivan in dramatic style. He almost lost control while exiting Turn 5, but then managed to take the control back, and drove his Pacific Porsche (No. 83) to victory. Competition Motorsports teammate and Championship leader Steve Goldman was forced to exit the race when his car developed a mechanical issue. Teammate Chris Vivolo claimed the second place, and TRG’s Greg Mitzcik, the 3rd position.
