Mazda has made quite a name for itself in the automotive industry. One of the biggest ways they have done this is by keeping a creative eye each year. Innovation is always on Mazda’s list and with technology evolving at the rate it is, Mazda hasn’t left anything behind. It is constantly finding ways to add to the driving experience.

2017 is an exciting year because Mazda will be bringing us a new engine technology that does just that. This new technology is called SkyActiv technology and its main mission is to provide you a new sense of freedom, pleasure and confidence while driving. In order to provide you this, several changes have been made. For example, the body of the car has been redesigned to become more efficient–in shape and weight. The engines are more fuel-efficient than ever, and cleaner too. Performance is heightened as responsiveness is at its best while handling the steering wheel and brake pedal.

Gone are the feelings of uncertainty while driving an unpredictable or underperforming car. Cruise like never before, and at an affordable price.  Luxury is at your fingertips! SkyActiv technology really sets Mazda vehicles way above the bar–much higher than its competitors.

Is fuel economy important to you? All SkyActiv engines are designed to help you get the most out of your buck. Gas prices seem to get higher every week, but with Mazda you don’t have to sacrifice aesthetic for fuel efficiency. Mazda models remain attractive, but most importantly, they have stellar performance and more.

Top Choice: The Mazda CX-3

Mazda CX-3

Small crossovers are all the rage right now and although the #MazdaCX-3 is only a year old, it’s already a hot commodity. So hot, in fact, that it’s been called the best compact crossover in the market.

Seriously, what’s not to love about it? It’s good looking with a stylish body line that runs nicely from its short front to its sleek tail lights and twin exhausts. It’s interior doesn’t disappoint either.

The Grand Touring trim is Mazda’s most popular choice for its whole and luxurious feeling. While it’s true that sitting in any Mazda model or trim will make you feel comfortable and at ease, the top of the line trim, Grand Touring, offers more premium features like a leather trim.

The dashboard is trimmed with a long padded leather strip. The surrounding surfaces, such as the doors and console, are also lined with leather. The contrasting colors, on all available color combinations, compliment each other very well. The comfortable seats also come lavished in these gorgeous premium materials.

Let’s talk about what’s under the hood. The CX-3 has a SkyActiv 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 146 horsepower. This arrangement carries the crossover just fine but if you’re looking for a more powerful drive, just make use of the Sport Mode. It’s a lot of fun!

At $28,510, you can enjoy this with the ActivSense package included. This consists of lane-departure warning, blind spot monitoring, smart brake support, radar cruise control, high-beam control and variable rain-sensing wipers.

Come visit us at CardinaleWay Mazda in Corona for an up close and personal look at this special crossover. For a look at what else we have in store, please visit www.CardinaleWayMazdaCorona.com. There’s a great variety of new and certified pre-owned vehicles listed there.

Mazda To Show Off New Koeru Concept Crossover in Frankfurt

Friday, September 2nd, 2016

Mazda Corona 6 shutterstock_318808598

A long time ago, way back in 2010, Mazda introduced a concept car at the LA Auto Show. And since then, nada.  No concept cars have made a debut at any auto show. Come September, that is expected to change, when the industry believes that Mazda’s new five-door crossover design will make an entrance at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Designed by none other than lead designer Luca Zollino with Mazda’s European R&D Center, the Koeru is expected to shake things up in this popular and competitive vehicle segment. The buzz is that the Koeru will stand out from the competition and show off in performance, value efficiency and style.

In Japanese, Koeru means “go beyond, or exceed.” That’s exactly what Mazda intends to do with the Koeru.  Think sleek, like the Mazda CX-3. But when it comes to size, it won’t be as tall as the current CX-5.  We know it will have a 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel SkyActiv engine, which will deliver plenty of torque and lots of fun, as well.

We can’t wait to see this new concept car.  But we’re more excited about the possibility that we’ll be seeing it in showrooms sooner than later.  We’ve got our fingers crossed.

In the meantime, when you’re ready to put Mazda’s commitment to exceptional performance, technology and design to the test, come in for a test drive.  At CardinaleWay Mazda in Corona, we’ve got the perfect Mazda waiting for you.

Mazda’s Revolutionary Approach to Clean Diesel Technology – Part II

Wednesday, August 3rd, 2016

Diesel Mazda

Considering on a global basis, the SkyActiv-D turbodiesel engine from Mazda is not new. It already enjoys an eco-car tax rebate in Japan. It also complies with the Euro 6 emission standards without requiring NOx after treatment systems that are costly.

While developing the SkyActiv-D engine, the Mazda engineers meticulously researched, examined, and re-examined every aspects and details of the engine, for the purpose of maximizing the efficiency of the engine while eliminating the traditional issues and problems associated with the design. Thus, keeping in line with the SkyActiv philosophy, Mazda successfully designed its highly efficient SkyActiv-D engine, which is, in all its entirety, unlike any other diesel engine in the current market.

The 14.0 compression ratio of the SkyActiv-D engine is something that it shares with its counterpart petrol engine. This is a notable detail since it is a first in the history of powertrain engineering. Usually, a diesel engine will have high compression ratios. This will prevent the engine from misfiring during a cold start’s warm-up phase. The problem with this approach is that it will result in excessive pressure and temperature within the combustion chamber, resulting in the formation of soot and nitrogen oxides, as well as causing an incomplete combustion. The only possible way to counter this is to delay the ignition process, however, this seriously impacts the fuel economy. Mazda engineers refused to bow down to the compromise, they kept on looking for a solution, and finally found it by thinking out of the ‘copybook’. They further refined the precision in control of the exhaust and injection valve timing.

Why the Mazdaspeed Models are Put on Hold

Friday, May 20th, 2016

111117a

Mazda is currently focusing its resources on the development of the 2nd generation SkyActiv range of vehicles. Hence, as of now, the company has put on hold its plan to revive the Mazdaspeed models. According to Masahiro Moro, head of Mazda’s North American operations, their R&D department is currently focused on delivering SkyActiv generation 2. Failure to deliver it now means the company will not have any other derivatives. Once they have delivered the SkyActiv generation 2 vehicles, they will focus on improving the performance of Mazdaspeed models.

In an interview given to Motoring, Moro said that the performance of the first 2 generations of Mazdaspeed3 has been poor. The 1st generation of Mazda3 was equipped with a 2.3L Turbo-4 engine. It provided 263 horsepower and 280 pound-feet torque. The torque steer it generated was very poor, even after the company limited its torque ratio in lower gears. The second generation saw the company revising the gear ratios and ECU.

Moro made it clear that the next generation of Mazdaspeed models would perform far better than its predecessors. He also acknowledged the fact that it had been the 1st generation of Mazdaspeed models (Mazdaspeed MX-5 Miata, Mazdaspeed3, and Mazdaspeed6) that helped to spread Mazda’s fun-to-drive message on a global basis.

As of now, Mazda does not have an exact timeline as to the return of its Mazdaspeed models. The company had actually started working on the 3rd generation Mazdaspeed but then it was put on hold in favor of the Koeru Concept.

Mazda CX-9 SUV-Performance Features

Monday, April 18th, 2016

2016-Mazda-CX-9-family-car_lg

The latest Mazda CX-9 is deemed to be a high performing crossover SUV. It comes equipped with a four-cylinder, 2.5 liter turbocharged engine which delivers 310 pound ft. of torque and 227 horsepower. It is accompanied by a six-speed automated transmission.

The estimated for EPA fuel economy are still not disclosed. However, according to the automotive company, the brand new powerful engine would be able to return nearly 20% more fuel economy as compared to the earlier V6 engine. All the trim levels (Touring, Grand Touring and Sport) have a standard front-wheel drive, but buyers can also opt for an all-wheel drive.

The new turbocharged engine fitted in the Mazda CX-9 is a big change in the SUV model. It is the first time that Mazda has used turbo-charging for its famous Skyactiv family of engines. For mitigating turbo lag and providing a strong response, the automotive company has also installed something known as the ‘Dynamic Pressure Turbo’. It receives air through two distinct paths. When the SUV is being driven at low speeds, a valve shuts down the bigger one, sending air via a narrower path to the engine turbine. This increases the pressure and enables faster spooling of the turbo. Above nearly 1700 rpm, the car’s engine can produce sufficient pressure so that the turbine spins and the valve gets opened.

The approximate fuel economy figures for the car (not yet released) are 29 highway/21 city for front-wheel drive. You can visit the CardinaleWay Mazda Corona showroom to check out the latest Mazda vehicles.

New Mazda CX-4 Teaser Shots Emerge Ahead of Beijing Debut

Wednesday, April 13th, 2016

160314a

The teaser shots of the latest Mazda CX-4 has definitely got everybody excited. We can best describe the CX-4 to be a coupe-like version of the CX-5. It also has some of the jinba ittai feel that characterizes the MX-5. If you think of the MX-4 as a horse and the driver as a horse rider, then the CX-4 is perhaps a little bigger steed.

Some of the most standout features of the new Mazda Cx-4 include the LED headlights and the 19-inch wheels that adorn the vehicle. When you sit inside, you can enjoy the Mazda Connect infotainment system and use the large head-up display screen for all kinds of entertainment and other purposes.

The automotive company calls the new Mazda CX-4 an “Exploring-Coupe SUV”. The hardware of the model needs to match with the CX-5. This means it will have a Skyactiv-D 2.2 liter turbo-diesel engine in certain markets. But in majority of the markets, it will be sold with the Skyactiv-G 2.5 liter gasoline engine. Buyers will also have the option choose between a front-wheel and an all-wheel drive in the new Mazda Cx-4.

If we judge the vehicle by the latest teaser pictures, it seems like the Mazda CX-4 is going to be a highly attractive coupe-style crossover. The Beijing Motor Show will be held on 29th April where the car will be officially showcased to the public. Walk into the CardinaleWay Mazda Corona showroom to check out the latest Mazda vehicles.
