Mazda’s SKYACTIV 2.5T Named Among Best Automotive Engines

Tuesday, January 17th, 2017

shutterstock_453999325

#Mazda is proud to claim yet another top award, this one for its SKYACTIV 2.5T engine.  The 2017 Wards 10Best Engines award was presented to Mazda for its remarkable SKYACTIV 2.5T turbocharged engine.  Mazda’s second generation CX-9 crossover SUVs feature this award-winning engine.  It’s just one more compelling reason to make the 2017 Mazda CX-9 your crossover SUV of choice.

This SKYACTIV 2.5T engine showcases a Mazda engineering design known as Dynamic Pressure Turbo.  What this means is that the turbocharger is designed to smoothly deliver up to 310 pounds of torque.  That’s a lot of power!  As a result, you’ll discover an increase in acceleration that will help you move in and out of traffic with ease.  More power shouldn’t come at the expense of additional fuel cost, and no one knows this better than Mazda. That’s why Mazda’s turbocharged SKYACTIV 2.5T engine is powered by gasoline.  In fact, this lightweight turbocharged engine improves fuel efficiency in the Mazda CX-9 by an astonishing 25%.  The exhaust gas recirculation system was re-engineered so that is a cooled system which helps eliminate early fuel enrichment.  This is precisely why there’s improved fuel economy with a SKYACTIV 2.5T engine.

Congratulations to the innovative engineers at Mazda!  Stop by your #1 CardinaleWay Mazda Corona Dealership and test drive a Mazda CX-9.  We think you’ll be amazed!  Look around while you’re here.  We’re sure to have your favorite Mazda sports car from the Miata to the Mazda3, plus our inventory of #CertifiedPreowned vehicles.  Our Sales team will be glad to assist you.  Visit our website at www.CardinaleWayMazdaCorona.com to for quick pre-approval and to view all our latest specials.

Mazda CX-9 SUV-Performance Features

Monday, April 18th, 2016

2016-Mazda-CX-9-family-car_lg

The latest Mazda CX-9 is deemed to be a high performing crossover SUV. It comes equipped with a four-cylinder, 2.5 liter turbocharged engine which delivers 310 pound ft. of torque and 227 horsepower. It is accompanied by a six-speed automated transmission.

The estimated for EPA fuel economy are still not disclosed. However, according to the automotive company, the brand new powerful engine would be able to return nearly 20% more fuel economy as compared to the earlier V6 engine. All the trim levels (Touring, Grand Touring and Sport) have a standard front-wheel drive, but buyers can also opt for an all-wheel drive.

The new turbocharged engine fitted in the Mazda CX-9 is a big change in the SUV model. It is the first time that Mazda has used turbo-charging for its famous Skyactiv family of engines. For mitigating turbo lag and providing a strong response, the automotive company has also installed something known as the ‘Dynamic Pressure Turbo’. It receives air through two distinct paths. When the SUV is being driven at low speeds, a valve shuts down the bigger one, sending air via a narrower path to the engine turbine. This increases the pressure and enables faster spooling of the turbo. Above nearly 1700 rpm, the car’s engine can produce sufficient pressure so that the turbine spins and the valve gets opened.

The approximate fuel economy figures for the car (not yet released) are 29 highway/21 city for front-wheel drive. You can visit the CardinaleWay Mazda Corona showroom to check out the latest Mazda vehicles.
