The Safest Car for Teens To Drive: Mazda3

There’s nothing quite as frightening for parents than when their teens start to drive. Even if they pass Driver’s Ed with flying colors, complete all the requirements and follow all the rules, one thing is for sure: they are going to have a fender bender or back into something sooner than later.

So, what’s a parent to do?  Buy a tank? Or a Hummer? Thankfully, there is a very, very safe vehicle that is getting the thumbs up from the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety.  The 2016 Mazda3 is now recognized as one of the “Top Safety Picks” by the respected agency. But the IIHS isn’t the only group sharing that opinion. U.S. News & World Report also put the Mazda3 on the top of its list for “Best Cars for Teens in August of 2016.

The Mazda3 ranked higher than the Honda Civic and literally every other vehicle that falls in the $25K-$35K category.  And it’s no wonder.  The mighty Mazda3 is chock full of safety features like Advanced Blind Spot Monitoring, high and low speed braking with the super cool Smart City Brake support and, of course, Radar Cruise Control.

Ok, so it’s great for your teen to drive.  But what about you?  Don’t be surprised if you find yourself borrowing the keys to your teen’s Mazda3, and for good reason. It just made the list of “Best Family Cars of 2016” created by Edmunds.com. And for all you hatchback lovers, it also won the prize for 2016’s “Best Hatchback” given by Parents® Magazine. Pretty impressive credentials!

Here’s an idea—maybe you treat yourself to a new Mazda3 and get your teen a great pre-owned Mazda with a great warranty.  Your insurances rates will certainly be lower, and it won’t hurt as much when that inevitable fender bender happens!

Grab your teen and head to CardinaleWay Mazda in Corona today.  You’re sure to find the right car for you and your teen!

Monday, June 27th, 2016

CX3

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) recently awarded its Top Safety award to Mazda’s 2016 CX-3. The CX-3 was subjected to a number of collision and rollover tests. The compact crossover scored ‘Good’ in all the 5 body-structure categories. One of the crash test, the small overlap, is responsible for almost 25% of traffic fatalities in the country. Scoring a ‘Good’ in that as well practically sealed the award for the CX-3.

Standard safety features provided by CX-3 include head-up display and DRLs, rear cross-traffic alert, blind spot monitoring, adaptive front lighting system, a rearview camera, front side and side curtain airbags, stability control, traction control, and antilock brakes. The available Grand Touring i-ActivSense package includes rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlamps, lane departure warning, high beam control system, radar cruise control from Mazda, and smart city brake support.

All the CX-3s are fitted with Mazda’s infotainment system featuring a 7-inch touchscreen display. The CX-3 is equipped with a 2.0L SkyActiv-G engine. It is linked to a 6-speed automatic transmission. The engine has the capacity to deliver 146 horsepower, and a torque of 146 pound-feet.

The CX-3 is very maneuverable. It offers a very pleasurable drive. The fuel-economy of the crossover is also impressive. Add the safety parameters, and it makes this compact crossover a desirable vehicle.

The IIHS is a US non-profit organization that is funded by the auto insurers. Headquartered in Arlington, Virginia, the main aim of the organization is to reduce the number of automobile crashes.
