Mazda’s Support For LMP3 Engines Will Not Change

Friday, August 26th, 2016

Mazda Engine

LMP3 cars have been successfully introduced in Europe and are set to make a run in the US at the beginning of next year. Mazda continues to be a great supporter of the Prototype Challenge series.

IMSA President Scott Atherton said that the Challenge was beneficial for everyone involved as fans got to witness great racing and giving young talent the platform to excel and progress to higher series like the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship. He also noted that they had taken feedback from competitors and engineers to make the platform a suitable one for prototypes.

John Doonan, Mazda’s Motorsports Directors also commented that Mazda was committed to providing opportunities for young talented crew members and budding drivers. He further said that the event was a great opportunity for those involved to move into Mazda’s Mazda Road to 24 program.

As far as the decision to not make the engines branded, Doonan said that the aim of their program from the beginning was not about badging but rather about development. He said that the program was a “whole new deal” where engineers from different brands could collaborate and excel. As an example of this he mentioned  Mazda engineers working with AER engineers on the prototypes. The event is set to get a significant boost next year thanks to LMP3 engines and Mazda’s support.

Mazda Will Continue To Support LMP3 Engines

Wednesday, August 24th, 2016

Mazda Logo

Mazda’s ‎Director of Motorsports at Mazda North American Operations, John Doonan has expressed his support for Mazda’s engines being used in the prototype cars at the IMSA Prototype Challenge by Mazda series. The engines will remain unbadged throughout the series.

The Prototype Challenge will replace the previous Prototype Lites by Cooper Tires and will be a mix of current and new platforms. The Prototype Challenge will be conducted in seven circuits across the US in a 13-round schedule. Each event will be 45 minutes long and will have one driver per event.

The Mazda engines will be present in the PC2 class,  Elan DP02 cars. The PC1 cars will have the LMP3 from up to 6 manufacturers and identical V8 engines. The LMP3 engine is provided by Mazda but they have chosen not to badge it.

The PC2 class will also be supported by Mazda as part of their scholarship program and the “Mazda Road to 24” program. Doonan says that these programs are great for discovering new talent and named top engineers like Kentock Koch, Mikhail Goikhberg and Tristan Nunez as examples of it’s success.

The new LMP3 mechanism is set to increase the car count of the challenge. It is currently at 20 with new and existing teams planning to order more products for next year.

The CX-7 to Return as the Koeru?- Part III

Friday, July 29th, 2016

CX-7

Most of the latest releases from Mazda feature the SkyActiv engine technology. Assuming that the same is featured in the Koeru, there are high chances that the engine is a standard 2.5L quadra cylinder. SkyActive technology was developed with an aim to increase fuel efficiency to an extent that end result is similar to that of a hybrid. The technology increases the compression ratio to 13:1 for gas engines and for diesel 14:1.

On the flip side, there is also a high chance that the CX-7 redefined, will have a stronger and more powerful turbocharged four like the Mazda3 MPS.

Looking beyond the performance of the car, the engine is speculated to be quieter thanks to the revolutionary NVH technology that checks the engine noise by redirecting the path of vibration. There are also high claims that promise the latest technology will be implemented in the car, superior to any competitors’. The factual information may be available only when the car is released for sale.

The available information is insufficient to draw a conclusion; however, going by what little is at hand, the decision to add a sporty twist to the Mazda cars is sure to attract young buyers. The concept of Koero is also a signal of Mazda’s preparedness to gain a strong foothold in the global automobile market.

The advertising of the brand is also moving towards conscious driving with a slogan of ‘Driving Matters’. For more information on the Koeru design visit CardinaleWay Mazda Corona.

The CX-7 to Return as the Koeru?- Part II

Wednesday, July 27th, 2016

CX-7

First look of the images captured of the Koeru from the Frankfurt Motor Show suggests that the front styling of the car has gotten bold with a strong armor shaped grille, massive fenders nestling sleek headlamps. Looking beyond the conceptual design, the Koeru resembles the 2016 Mazda CX-5 and the CX-3. The only difference is that this car looks a lot sportier than the other two, which look more sophisticated.

Coming to the rear, the trademark broad tail lights are replaced with modern, sharp cut smaller units pumped up with a larger outlet for the exhaust that peeks under the unchanged rear bumper. From the back, the SUV looks like a coupe thanks to the angular roof and the prominent pillars. Noticeably, the wheels are bigger with a unique design.

The car measures 181.1 inches in length, making the Koeru longer than the CX-5 by 2.4 inches but shorter than the previous CX-7. If early reports are anything to go by, the Koeru is to be a redefined CX-9 but a first look suggests that the car is more fitting in the range of midsized SUV. If the Koeru were to be meant a large car there should have be an addition of 18 inches to the overall length.

Not much information is available on the interiors of the car. There are however, great chances of the interiors receiving a face lift to expose a futuristic design.

The CX-7 to return as the Koeru? – Part I

Monday, July 25th, 2016

CX-7

To anyone who has been following the Mazda stable it is evident that most of the cars have been upgraded periodically. One car that stood apart without any tinkering was the CX-9 SUV. CX-9 the product of a successful partnership between Ford and Mazda remained untouched since 2006. Most of the re-released Mazda cars are designed around the KODO model with a new SkyActiv engine.

However, post 2012 the CX-7, another SUV from Mazda was discontinued stating poor sales as the primary reason. There are rumors of a redefined CX-7 releasing in the near future but not before the refreshed CX-9’s debut. The source of these speculations is the unveiling of a new concept during the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show.

Renamed as Koeru, Japanese for ‘go beyond’ or ‘exceed’ the description of the concept suggests that this is the newest venture into the foray of SUVs, especially the cross over market to raise the bar of the existing standards. The latest car is designed to offer the consumer best overall value with enhanced efficiency.

There is no pictorial proof of design for the CX-7 makeover but from what is available, the resemblance is uncanny to a midsized SUV-a lot like the discontinued car.

The Japanese Automaker, officially known as Mazda Motor Corporation is based in Hiroshima and is well known in the racing circuit as a consistent performer. To check out the latest Mazda cars visit CardinaleWay Mazda Corona.

When Will G- Vectoring Reach the Miata?

Friday, July 22nd, 2016

2016-Mazda-MX-5-Miata-roadster_lg

The latest Mazda cars are rolled out with the smart G-vectoring system while the inclusion of the same in the sports car MX-5 is still unclear. According to the Mazda heads, the delay in adoption of G-vectoring in Miata is because of the fact that the MX-5 is not among the top priority list of upgrades yet. Adding to the same, it was also said that every time the company discovered a new technology, it was immediately rolled out without thinking too much into the car it will be incorporated into- the main aim here was to make the latest technology available as and when it was refined.

The GVC technology is another addition to the long list of Mazda patents. The factor that makes the GVC technology work is the SkyActiv framework of the Mazda cars. Although, the MX-5 seems to be the ideal candidate for this technology, given the present situation this may not be of utmost importance, for now.

The evolution of GVC was directed towards presenting the feeling of the MX-5 drive in terms of precision and directness to other cars whose center of gravity and weight is below optima. Incorporation of GVC will make driving on bad and uneven roads safer and more pleasurable. GVC is also set to sort out complaints regarding the CX-3’s vertical body movement. The best aspect of the G-Vectoring is that it can be tuned to fit the needs of regional road conditions.

The CX-9 is the Most Anticipated Car From Mazda- Here’s Why- Part 2

Wednesday, July 20th, 2016

CX9

A car is as good as its engine and interior comforts. The CX-9 is the most awaited car from the Mazda stable for its powerful engine. The all new boosted 2.5L quadra cylinder turbo petrol engine has a monster power output of 2000rpm at 420lb-ft torque propelling the six speed automatic transmission to hit high speeds with ease. There is no drag experienced while accelerating and the car is highly fuel efficient.

Speaking of drive conditions, the car fared exceptionally well when tested on wet roads. Bumps in the road were absorbed by the efficient shock absorbers and little or no overthrow was felt within the cabin.

Although the car is not small, parking and maneuvering it in tight spots does not seem like an impossible task thanks to the parking sensors and rear view cameras. The traction is improved with the All-wheel drive owing to the inclusion of larger tires of 20 inches.

The Mazda offers a three years warranty for unlimited kilometers post which service is required once a year or on completion of 10,000 kilometers, whichever comes first.

In the safety department, all variants come with driver air bags, side and rear air bags, 4 wheel disc and drum brakes, brake assist system, child safety locks, blind spot monitoring, traction control and lane departure warning.

The car is a steal deal for families looking at buying SUV for the space it offers, safety features and performance, all of which is available in the base Sport variant.

The CX-9 is the Most Anticipated Car From Mazda- Here’s Why- Part 1

Monday, July 18th, 2016

CX9

2016 is the year of seven seater SUV’s for Mazda. To understand the public’s interest in SUV’s the company created a competition wherein the end price was the car itself. Of the total number that entered the competition only 34 percent asked for detailed information and 9 percent requested a call back. Keeping this statistics in mind, the Mazda designers knew that if CX-9 was to create interest the two important factors were the pricing and car specifications. Pricing is paramount as the CX-9 competes with titans like Hyundai Santa Fe, Fortuner, Kia Sorento and Toyota Kluger. Going by the initial sale response of the car, it is clear that the company has struck the right chord.

The luxurious and spacious interior makes the CX-9 the most anticipated car

Luxury welcomes you when you step into the car. The steering wheel, nestled in leather comes with buttons to adjust audio and cruise control. The central console is rounded and fits elegantly into the velvet smooth dash board.

The infotainment system includes the intelligent MZD Connect system which can be easily controlled by the dial placed in between the front seats. There is Bluetooth connectivity and USB ports for charging to ensure that you’re connected on the go. The automatic windows are restricted for the driver and front passenger only.

The seats are a standard 60:40 ratio. To access the third row, the seats in the second are slid forward.
