Twin Turbochargers And Electric Supercharger: Mazda’s Latest Patent

Monday, September 18th, 2017

As the saying goes in Alice In Wonderland, “Curiouser and curiouser,” which aptly describes our reaction to news of Mazda’s latest patent filing.  The patent is for a triple-charged engine.  Is this another engine breakthrough for Mazda?  What future plans does Mazda have in store utilizing a twin engine configuration with an electric supercharger?  CardinaleWay Mazda Corona, your favorite Corona dealership, is just as intrigued as everyone else. we can hardly wait to see what Mazda has up its sleeve!

How A Triple-Charged Engine Works

Mazda’s design for a triple-charged engine is comprised of twin turbocharged engines with an electric supercharger.  In theory, this triple combination engine system works when the electric supercharger kickstarts the engine.  In response, this revs up the dual turbochargers for a significant burst of horsepower.  Typically, you would envision a triple-charged engine in a rear-wheel drive vehicle.

The Million Dollar Question

A patent for the triple-charged engine does not necessarily mean that Mazda has a concept car on the drawing board to accommodate the new engine design. However, it begs the million dollar question circulating in the auto industry… does Mazda plan to utilize this triple-charged engine in the near future?  It’s quite possible that this type of triple-charged engine would be well-suited for an RX-8 successor.

Mazda Is A Leader In Cutting-Edge Automotive Technology

CardinaleWay Mazda Corona Suggests Cleaning Your Car’s Engine

Monday, September 11th, 2017

Add cleaning your vehicle’s engine to your list of auto maintenance.  It sounds like a daunting task, but it doesn’t have to be.  Cleaning under the hood is important to help keep your engine running cooler.  It’s also the perfect opportunity to check all your vehicle’s fluid levels and inspect hoses and belts. CardinaleWay Mazda Corona, your favorite Corona dealership, recommends cleaning your engine compartment at least once or twice a year.  That’s because debris and grime accumulates under the hood of your vehicle and can be detrimental to parts of your engine, battery and electrical wiring.  For instance, a buildup of grime can lead to corrosion which is  particularly harmful to your vehicle’s battery.

What You Need To Know About Cleaning Under The Hood

There are three very critical pieces of information you should know before you begin cleaning your vehicle’s engine compartment.  First, make sure the engine is cold.  Secondly, never use a hose or power washer to spray water under your hood.  Water can damage electrical wiring and components.  Lastly, refrain from using abrasive cleaning solvents which can also be harmful.

Steps To Take To Clean Your Vehicle’s Engine Compartment

Start by removing any loose debris that you see under the hood.  You can use a small broom or even a leaf blower to remove the debris.  Next, use soft cloths or microfiber towels moistened with a mild cleaning solution.  You can even use Dawn dishwashing detergent mixed with water.  Wipe down all the surfaces in the engine compartment.  Inspect the battery for signs of corrosion, removing the battery caps as well.  Use a wire brush or soft cloth to remove any corrosion.  Check all the fluid levels and inspect belts and hoses for any signs of cracks, leakage or slippage.  Also check the wiring and hoses for any signs of rodent tampering.  Tiny critters love to sharpen their teeth on tasty wiring.

The Impact of The New Toyota-Mazda Plant in the U.S.

Thursday, August 24th, 2017

On the heels of the surprise announcement that Toyota and Mazda plan to jointly build a $1.6 billion manufacturing plant in the United States, we’re delving deeper into the long-range implications.  Besides providing a shot in the arm to the U.S. economy and jobs growth, what’s in it for the two Japanese automakers?  Specifically, Mazda who is about 1/7th the size of giant auto manufacturer Toyota.  CardinaleWay Mazda in Corona, your #1 Corona Dealership, is optimistic that this marriage between strange bedfellows has the potential to produce great things for Mazda.

What Mazda Stands To Gain

While the strategic hunt for the location of the new Toyota-Mazda plant heats up, with at least a dozen states vying for bragging rights, let’s examine what could result from the alliance between the Japanese auto manufacturers.  First, there’s substantial job growth, with at least 4,000 jobs promised by the creation of the new plant.  Then, there’s the real possibility of shared technology between Toyota and Mazda.  This is an area where Mazda can definitely benefit with regards to electric vehicle (EV) development, as Toyota is ahead of the game.  Mazda, on the other hand, lags behind on EV development, due to their insistence that combustion engines hold promise for the future.  It makes sense that they will team up and design EVs of the future.

Both automakers bought a token of shares from each other to solidify their “marriage of convenience.”  On paper, it looks like the start of a beautiful collaboration.  While Toyota is expected to initially manufacturer Corollas, their smaller sedan, Mazda has indicated they’ll manufacturer a yet-unnamed crossover SUV at the new plant.  It remains to be seen if EVs may also be manufactured at the Toyota-Mazda facility in the long run, but anything’s possible.

Mazda Announces Its Latest SKYACTIV Engine

Tuesday, August 22nd, 2017

The most recent revelation from Mazda is that they have a new SKYACTIV engine to add to their repertoire.  The latest addition has been identified as the SKYACTIV-X, and it will be coming soon to Mazda vehicles in 2019.  CardinaleWay Mazda in Corona, your #1 Corona dealership, is excited about this latest development.  For some time now, Mazda has been hinting that it has made a significant breakthrough in the advancement of its SKYACTIV engines.

Mazda’s: The Future Is In Combustion Engines

The newest engine from Mazda is an internal combustion engine.  Typically, it works by sparking the fuel-air mixture with a compression ignition.  This proprietary SKYACTIV-X engine is unique because it reportedly has an extremely lean burn.  This means an increase in fuel economy, estimated to be 20 to 30 percent higher than Mazda’s current SKYACTIV-G engine. The engineers at Mazda are optimistic that this will have a positive impact on the overall efficiency of future Mazda vehicles outfitted with the SKYACTIV-X engine.

Mazda’s Blueprint For Looking Ahead To 2030

Additionally, Mazda announced news that it has created an ambitious agenda as it looks towards the future.  Mazda refers to this blueprint as “Sustainable Zoom-Zoom 2030.”   Obviously, the keyword here is sustainable.  What Mazda refers to here is the ability to tap into energy resources and keep them at a consistent level without depleting them.  We’re hearing that this means reducing the carbon dioxide emissions by at least 50 percent by the year 2030.

CardinaleWay Mazda Is Proud Of Mazda’s Accomplishments

Always known for being a leader among the auto industry, Mazda continues to deliver outstanding contributions as demonstrated by the latest SKYACTIV-X engine.  We’re extremely proud to be associated with an automaker who conscientiously cares about its consumers and the environment.  Come to CardinaleWay Mazda in Corona and check out our selection of the latest Mazda models, such as the 2017 Mazda6 sedan and the 2017 Mazda CX-5 crossover SUV.  It won’t be long before the 2018 Mazda models begin arriving.  Now is the time to make the best deals on outgoing 2017 Mazda models!

CardinaleWay Mazda Corona Offers Suggestions To Beat The Heat And Keep Your Vehicle Cooler

Thursday, August 3rd, 2017

We are incredibly spoiled.  What did people used to do when there was no air conditioning in vehicles?  Is that what handheld paper fans were for?  Thankfully, modern cars are equipped with air conditioners to help us keep cool on the most sweltering Summer days.  CardinaleWay Mazda in Corona, your favorite Corona dealership, offers the following suggestions for how you can ensure an even cooler car:

  1. Replace your air filter with a new, clean air filter. Maximize the airflow by taking your vehicle to the dealership where they can quickly swap out the old air filter for a new one.  Not only will it help increase the airflow, it’s also healthier for the occupants of your vehicle.  The air you breathe is, after all, only as clean as your vehicle’s air filter.

  1. Start your engine and GO! Don’t make the mistake of starting your car and letting it sit idly while you wait for your vehicle to cool off. This is the wrong assumption.  Instead, drive away immediately because the more your engine runs, the faster the air conditioner’s compressor will pump out cold air.

  1. For those of you with newer cars equipped with a “Start/Stop” feature, you’ll want to turn this to the off position. This is important to do since leaving it on will create a scenario where the air conditioner’s compressor shuts down each time the engine shuts off.

  1. Set your air conditioner’s temperature to the lowest setting available. This will actually keep your vehicle cooler, the air won’t dry you out as much and you’ll also save in fuel costs.

  1. Don’t recirculate the air while the air conditioner is running. All this does is take the cold air from the front seat and recirculate it, preventing cold air from reaching the rear seat.  If you have passengers in the back seats, you don’t want them to overheat.

For All Your Service Needs, Bring Your Vehicle To Us

If your air conditioning system isn’t running as cold as it should, bring it to our Service department.  Our highly trained Service technicians will be glad to check it out for you.  The next time you’re in the market for a new vehicle, visit CardinaleWay Mazda Corona.  We’ve got a great selection of the latest Mazda models, including the 2017 Mazda 6 sedan or the 2017 Mazda CX-5 crossover SUV.  For a complete listing of our inventory or to fill out an online application for quick pre-approval, see our website at www.CardinaleWayMazdaCorona.com.
