The 2015 Cooper Tires Prototype Lites Powered by Mazda championship comes to an end, with CSU Fullerton student winning 11 of 14 races. Kenton Koch, 21 year old business student, has put nearly every racing notch conceivable in his belt. In 2014, he won the Battery Tender MX-5 Cup presented by BFGoodrich Tires. The Skip Barber MAZDASPEED Pro Challenge in 2012 and 2013 were also his. And Koch was a finalist for the Team USA and Mazda Road to 24 shootout programs, and the US representative in the FIA Institute Young Driver Excellence Academy. Prototype Lites produce apex speeds that are much akin to P2 cars, with the 2.0-liter Mazda MZR engine reaching a top speed of 155 MPG. Koch says, “The car was much easier than I thought it would be to drive.” If you’re not a professional racecar driver, but want a taste of life on the fast track, slide behind the wheel of the 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata, and experience one of the most acclaimed sports cars ever made by a Japanese manufacturer. Since its debut in 1990, the Miata continues to win the hearts of enthusiasts young and vintage. Contact CardinaleWay Mazda in Corona for more details.
