The 2016 schedule for the newly-rebranded Mazda Prototype Lites has just been released. Among the highlights, a return to the beautiful and historic raceway on the Monterey Peninsula. In conjunction with Cooper Tires, Mazda Prototype Lites also released a new series logo, with six of seven venues for the 14-race schedule. This marks the 11th season for the International Motor Sports Association Development Series. The return to Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in early September is one of two standalone event weekends for the series, with the second to be announced. Randy Hembrey, IMSA senior series manager, Development & Single-Make Series, said, “IMSA Mazda Prototype Lite Presented by Cooper Tires is a series that represents great value and opportunity for a wide variety of competitors…it’s doing a fantastic job of developing career-minded young drivers who wish to advance to the professional level of sports car racing while providing challenging, cost-effective racing in high-performance downforce cars for more seasoned racers.” Stop in to CardinaleWay Mazda in Corona today, to check out the award-winning 2016 MX-5 Miata, and discover why the brand continues to gain popularity as one of the most fun to drive.
