Twin Turbochargers And Electric Supercharger: Mazda’s Latest Patent

Monday, September 18th, 2017

As the saying goes in Alice In Wonderland, “Curiouser and curiouser,” which aptly describes our reaction to news of Mazda’s latest patent filing.  The patent is for a triple-charged engine.  Is this another engine breakthrough for Mazda?  What future plans does Mazda have in store utilizing a twin engine configuration with an electric supercharger?  CardinaleWay Mazda Corona, your favorite Corona dealership, is just as intrigued as everyone else. we can hardly wait to see what Mazda has up its sleeve!

How A Triple-Charged Engine Works

Mazda’s design for a triple-charged engine is comprised of twin turbocharged engines with an electric supercharger.  In theory, this triple combination engine system works when the electric supercharger kickstarts the engine.  In response, this revs up the dual turbochargers for a significant burst of horsepower.  Typically, you would envision a triple-charged engine in a rear-wheel drive vehicle.

The Million Dollar Question

A patent for the triple-charged engine does not necessarily mean that Mazda has a concept car on the drawing board to accommodate the new engine design. However, it begs the million dollar question circulating in the auto industry… does Mazda plan to utilize this triple-charged engine in the near future?  It’s quite possible that this type of triple-charged engine would be well-suited for an RX-8 successor.

CardinaleWay Mazda Corona Suggests Cleaning Your Car’s Engine

Monday, September 11th, 2017

Add cleaning your vehicle’s engine to your list of auto maintenance.  It sounds like a daunting task, but it doesn’t have to be.  Cleaning under the hood is important to help keep your engine running cooler.  It’s also the perfect opportunity to check all your vehicle’s fluid levels and inspect hoses and belts. CardinaleWay Mazda Corona, your favorite Corona dealership, recommends cleaning your engine compartment at least once or twice a year.  That’s because debris and grime accumulates under the hood of your vehicle and can be detrimental to parts of your engine, battery and electrical wiring.  For instance, a buildup of grime can lead to corrosion which is  particularly harmful to your vehicle’s battery.

What You Need To Know About Cleaning Under The Hood

There are three very critical pieces of information you should know before you begin cleaning your vehicle’s engine compartment.  First, make sure the engine is cold.  Secondly, never use a hose or power washer to spray water under your hood.  Water can damage electrical wiring and components.  Lastly, refrain from using abrasive cleaning solvents which can also be harmful.

Steps To Take To Clean Your Vehicle’s Engine Compartment

Start by removing any loose debris that you see under the hood.  You can use a small broom or even a leaf blower to remove the debris.  Next, use soft cloths or microfiber towels moistened with a mild cleaning solution.  You can even use Dawn dishwashing detergent mixed with water.  Wipe down all the surfaces in the engine compartment.  Inspect the battery for signs of corrosion, removing the battery caps as well.  Use a wire brush or soft cloth to remove any corrosion.  Check all the fluid levels and inspect belts and hoses for any signs of cracks, leakage or slippage.  Also check the wiring and hoses for any signs of rodent tampering.  Tiny critters love to sharpen their teeth on tasty wiring.
