Snow Proves to be No Contender for the Mazda CX-5

Friday, January 29th, 2016

The snow-capped mountains and icy temperatures this winter might seem like harsh conditions for Mazda Motor Corp, but don’t let the beauty of its vehicles fool you – Mazda vehicles have been tested to overcome the cold. The Mazda CX-5 is equipped with i-ACTIV AWD System which gives it an edge over competitors due to the technology’s predictive nature, it is able to handle any trip to the snow. Robert Davis, Senior Vice President for U.S. Operations at Mazda, said: “The first step is the snow. Once we establish credentials there, we can go other places with it.” In an interview with a rather large automotive news outlet, Davis revealed that 90% of Mazda CX-3 buyers in the United States opt-in for AWD; and about 50% of Mazda CX-5 customer are opting in as well.

Mazda Miata Speedster & Spyder Concepts

Friday, January 29th, 2016

The Mazda Miata is considered America’s favorite sports car which is why the Japanese automaker’s latest concepts are hard to ignore. The Mazda Miata Speedster and Spyder concept models were built for the 2015 SEMA show. The Speedster model trades it’s a-pillars, windshielf and convertible top with a carbon fiber front deflector and tonneau cover. The Spyder model loses the factory folding roof for a bikini top – leaving it with a simple piece of canvas. Both models are tricked out with the best materials on the inside; featuring suede and leather, as well as a carbon fiber door panel drop with a leather strap which replaces a door handle. If you would like to learn more about the two latest concept models, subscribe to CardinaleWay Mazda Corona’s blog.

Mazda Prototype Race Team to Use MZ-2.0T Engines

Wednesday, January 20th, 2016

The two-car Mazda Prototype race team recently announced that it will be powered by the new gasoline-fueled MZ-2.0T engine this season in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. The engine earned its name for its configuration: ‘MZ’ refers to Mazda, ‘2.0’ references its 2-liter capacity and the ‘T’ is a nod to the turbocharger. John Doonan, Director, Mazda Motorsports North America, said: “We gained immense knowledge from three years of racing a stock-block diesel engine. That knowledge will improve the next generation of Mazda diesel engine. But, with the impending rule changes in 2017, a purpose-built racing engine was our best choice to reach our long-term goals and contend for race wins and championships. After extensive testing, the MZ-2.0T is not only very fast, but reliable as well.”

Black Mazda Racing Concepts

Wednesday, January 20th, 2016

Mazda is excited to announce that it will be delivering a trio of “Racing Concept” vehicles that are based on production models. The vehicles feature shadowy color schemes and are based off the Mazda6, Mazda CX-3 and Miata – the color scheme is known as the long dark teatime of Kodo, Soul of Motion. The Roadster RS Racing Concept is a remake of the Mazda MX-5 Miata which features subtle aero mods and a height adjustable suspension. The CX-3 Racing Concept is the most athletic and charming vehicle of the bunch – featuring Mazdaspeed embroidered buckets, the interior of this concept is undeniably attractive. The last of the three models to have received the darkened makeover is the Atenza Racing Concept.

Mazda Joins the Linux Foundation

Thursday, January 14th, 2016

CardinaleWay Mazda - Corona 2_LinuxFoundation

The Linux Foundation launched an initiative several years ago, called Automotive Grade Linux (AGL). The project is an open-source endeavor to develop common Linux-based software cores for connected cars. Mazda joins other automakers alongside AGL to address the needs to the connected car. They will pursue a new Unified Code Base, aimed at becoming an industry standard. AGL is the architectural foundation for several applications within a connected vehicle, including the instrument cluster, heads-up display, telemetry, navigation, communications, safety, security and more. IMSA Update: Pigot, Devlin to Join Mazda Prototype Team

Thursday, January 14th, 2016

CardinaleWay Mazda - Corona 1_racing

The Mazda Road to 24 is a series for sports car racers, while the Mazda Road to Indy provides driver scholarships in the open-wheel ranks. These two intersect in the Rolex 24 at Daytona. Mazda Motorsports has announced that Indy Lights champion Spencer Pigot will join the Mazda Prototype team, and veteran racer ben Devlin will join for the third year at Daytona. Pigot is the first driver to win four Mazda development scholarships. He stated, “The Mazda Road to Indy has been very important to my development as a driver. The cars within the ladder system train you to compete at the top levels of motorsport. Because I had done a full season with the Indy Lights car with Mazda turbo power, I was able to get comfortable with power and downforce of the Prototype pretty quickly. Driving in the Daytona 24 Hours is a new experience for me which I’m very excited about. Mazda has been a huge part of my career and I can’t thank them enough for the opportunity to drive in the Rolex 24.” Ben Devlin’s resume includes the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and many others. He will drive the No. 70 car with full-season co-drivers Tom Long and Joel Miller. At 33 years old, he says, “I know I’m the old guy, but I can fill my role after driving these types of cars for over 15 years. I want to pass my experience on to the young guns, and I believe I still have the speed, and most importantly, consistency to help the team succeed.” For the everyday race car enthusiast, drop by CardinaleWay Mazda in Corona and test drive the award-winning MX-5 Miata.

Mazda is First Importer to Finish Second Overall in Australian Market

Thursday, January 14th, 2016

CardinaleWay Mazda - Corona 2_CX5

In the 2015 sales race, Mazda has become the first full-line vehicle importer to take second place in the Australian market for a full calendar year. The Japanese automaker demonstrated strong growth of 13.2 percent over 2014, selling 114,024 vehicles in 2015 in Australia. Mazda Australia is one of the company’s biggest world regions, with astonishing market share of nearly 10 percent. One in ten of all vehicles sold in Australia in 2015 was a Mazda. What’s more, the CX-5, CX-3 and CX-9 experienced strong growth in 2015 in the land down under. There is no sign of the global interest in SUVs and CUVs slowing down anytime soon. Mazda projects that worldwide sales of the CX-3 and CX-5 will continue to be strong in 2016. Test drive yours today at CardinaleWay Mazda in Corona.

Mazda Not Jumping on Driverless Car Bandwagon…

Wednesday, January 6th, 2016

CardinaleWay Mazda - Corona 2_driverless

With companies like Ford, Mercedes-Benz, Volvo and Cadillac taking steps toward fully automated driverless cars, Mazda does not plan to follow suit anytime soon. CEO Masamichi Kogai said, “It’s not just (about) getting from point A to point B…our mission is to provide the essence of driving pleasure.” Although some automotive executives assert that self-driving cars will become as essential to modern life as any other appliance, Mazda’s chief recognizes that “the car…is like being home. As soon as I get inside the car, no one outside can bother me. I might go to a lake or to the mountains. I don’t know where I am going until I get there.” Stay updated on Mazda’s innovations in driving pleasure, at CardinaleWay Mazda in Corona. Test drive the award-winning MX-5 Miata today.
