CardinaleWay Mazda - Corona 1 miata roadster taske 5

The latest ND generation of the Mazda Miata has just received its first tuning pack from BBR. The packs are designed for both the 1.5-liter and 2.0-liter models. The “Super 160” upgrade, built for the entry-level MX-5, adds 20hp and 14lb ft of torque, for a max horsepower of 158. The Starchip ECU software upgrade is responsible for the power gain. Additionally, the 2.0-liter Miata has two upgrade options. The “Super 175+” increases available power by 17jp and 10lb. ft. of torque, while the “Super 190” adds 30hp and 24lb. ft. of torque, bringing the total available power to 190hp and 176lb. ft. of torque. BBR’s Neil McKay says that the Super 190 “builds on the entry level upgrade by improving the inlet and exhaust efficiency of the SKYACTIV engine, whilst retaining full MOT compliance and everyday usability.” Also available are a replacement set of front brake pads and a range of lightweight alloy wheels. To see the new MX-5 Miata in action, take it for a spin at CardinaleWay Mazda in Corona.

High Design Not Just for Mazda Vehicles; Dealerships Receive a Facelift

CardinaleWay Mazda - Corona 2

In keeping with its strategy to move up-market, Mazda is infusing its U.S. dealerships with elements reflecting the principles of more upscale design. Known for its “soul of motion” or “Kodo”, the Japanese automaker aims to make showrooms more open and airy, with a “transparent view into dealership operations”, said Jim O’Sullivan, President and CEO of Mazda North American Operations. A large part of the Mazda brand is the concept of Retail Evolution, which offers “an upscale experience”, he continues. This is accomplished through the use of natural materials like real wood and metal, glass, and an infusion of light. In an effort to keep the focus on Mazda’s award-winning vehicle design, the showrooms will be simple and sophisticated, with classic black and white color schemes. Free Wi-Fi and charging stations are offered in the Mazda Lounge, which carries the elegant and chic theme throughout the showroom experience. First to reopen its doors under the Retail Evolution redesign is Mazda of Everett in Seattle, Washington. Dealers have three options, from minor facelifts, to down-to-the-studs renovations.

Next-Gen Mazda BT-50 Pickup in the Works

CardinaleWay Mazda - Corona 2

While Mazda is more widely known for the power-packed thrill of the MX-5 Miata and the sporty feel of its compact cars and crossover utility vehicles, things are about to get even more interesting. Mazda states that the next-generation BT-50 pickup truck will not only receive a facelift, but will be tougher. Speculators claim that the BT-50 may be based on the new Toyota Hilux, but director of operations at Mazda, Yuji Nakamine, remains tight-lipped. The Mazda BT-50 enjoys a large market in Australia, New Zealand and some South-East Asian countries, therefore Nakamine says they are “discussing the future pickup strategy”. Afterall, the automaker is known for going the distance when innovation and quality meet style and enjoyment. To experience this first-hand, visit CardinaleWay Mazda in Corona today, and ask a friendly staff member for a test drive.
